The Friends of the Rawlings Conservatory (FRC) are united in meeting the continuing needs of a unique Baltimore landmark—the Howard Peters Rawlings Conservatory & Botanic Gardens of Baltimore. Whether these efforts include educational programming, fundraising, volunteer coordination, or special events, FRC board members serve to support the Conservatory when and where that help is needed most.
Join Us in Preserving History this Giving Tuesday
The Palm House, alongside the Orchid Room, stands as the oldest and most historically significant part of the Rawlings Conservatory. This architectural marvel symbolizes Baltimore’s rich heritage and botanical fascination. It is the second oldest public conservatory in the United States, a true Victorian jewel of our city, nestled within historic Druid Hill Park.
Yet, time has taken its toll, and the Palm House is now in desperate need of a full restoration of the windows and structure to ensure its preservation for future generations.
The project includes:
· Replacement of failing glazing and windows
· Structural repairs and stabilization
· Preservation of historic elements
· Modernization of mechanical and electrical systems
· Re-establishment of lush landscaping and palms
The Palm House is not just a building; it represents our commitment to conservation and community and is a symbol of the proud city of Baltimore. On behalf of the HPRC and Baltimore City, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support. Let’s work together to ensure the Palm House’s legacy continues to shine brightly for another century.
Thank you for your commitment
